Connecticore is seeking to appoint a Voice Engineer for its Voice Department.

  • Perform various tasks relating to telephony operations, installation, and / or maintenance for local, off-site and/or remote locations.
  • Provide coordination in the analysis, acquisition, and installation of remote hardware and software. Liaise with internal / external customers and vendors to determine system needs.
  • Serve as technical specialist for the resolution of telephony problems.
  • Assist in maintenance of technical architecture documentation for company’s voice infrastructure.
  • Monitor telecommunications links and telephony devices for failures and performance problems and perform capacity planning.
  • Respond to Help Desk questions.
  • Provide on call support.

Qualifications, Education and Certifications

  • Relevant degree and one or more years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of one year experience in telecommunications or related field.
  • Minimum of one year experience in software / hardware voice network testing and support.
  • Knowledge of voice and data communications systems, dial plans, switching architecture, telephony and wiring.
  • Experience with fault isolation and resolution, as well as end-user support.
  • Ability to analyze telecom utilization and performance data.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and constructively with coworkers, executives at all levels as well as with vendors and customers.
  • Strong documentation skills with attention to detail.

Ancillary Qualifications

  • Experience with OpenSips and Asterisk Software.
  • Experience with SQL Databases (MySQL).
  • Fundamental knowledge of Linux operating system.
  • Experience with scripting (bash) and programming languages (Python).
  • Familiarity with VMWare virtualization software.
  • Experience with various telephony services: MicroCall accounting; Cisco Call Manager Express
  • Familiarity with Unified Messaging Architecture, IP addressing, Protocols: H.323, SIP, ISDN, PSTN and carrier networks as well as relevant product offerings, carrier circuit design and provisioning processes, circuit testing and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Strong project management skills, ability to manage large projects in scope and change in priority.
